March has been a busy month in government.  It may be this that has delayed a debate on the draft order increasing the court fee for applications for grants of probate.

The order is still (as at 28th March 2019) draft.  The fees will not increase without notice, and the draft order says we will have three weeks from the date it comes into force.

In the meantime, however, the court itself is undergoing a metamorphosis which is causing some delay and some teething problems.

As a consequence there is likely to be disruption to a service which I have always found to be exemplary: prompt, knowledgeable, courteous and helpful to both practitioner and lay applicant alike.  It has been a good role model.
